From Phat to Thin, how I got skinny xoxo.

You can’t expect to shatter glass ceilings without getting a little bruised on your way up.

Part of that I got from a movie or something and part of that I just made up but either way, it’s 100% true.

How did I get thin? Years of trial and error, boxing helped a ton, and then the secret key that I’m about to tell you in this post.

When I first cut weight, I did it as a teen living in the same house with my family, no gym membership, and nobody to help me in my healthy eating. I had to weigh in in front of my coach who would tell me if I gained weight, tease me lovingly, or tell me I cut and congratulate me.

Almond milk, chicken bowls, protein shakes, and water combined with 4-5x week workouts was the key. Then I was skinny like I am now, and people were on my a** for being too thin, kinda like how they are sometimes now.

Healthy tips that made all the difference.

“Orange juice is not healthy, if you want orange juice, eat an orange.”- Coach Johnson

"Get rid of the word diet. . It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle."- Coach Johnson

“Eat ½ of what isn’t good for you.”- Mindy Kaling in one of her books, a loose quotation because she may or may have not said that, but that was my takeaway.

Then I put on weight again to cut down to where I am now/ to make sure my a** would be phat once I got thin asf, & I did it!

The two tips that I shared plus the fact I only drink water and barely drink alcohol is what keeps me tiny and fit. Soda is disgusting when you’re not used to it, I can taste the soda’s sugar on my teeth, and it’s not a vibe. . . Dr. Pepper though is my favorite.

Bonus tips. . . Handful of veggies with every meal. . . it’ll get to the point you crave salads. Mmmm . . . a salad sounds good asf rn. Haha, I hope this doesn't sound too over the top, it's just what works for me and everyBODY is different. Also, the eating half of what is bad becomes like this game of self-control from me to me. I love being disciplined with what's important to me and this is important work to take good care of oneself through mindfully eating.

When eating, take your time, listen to your body tell you it's full. If you eat fast or watch tv while you eat, you'll more than likely tend to overeat. (ex. when I was a nanny I would turn on tv for the child because he otherwise wouldn't eat enough, this way he'd eat more.) Try thinking of eating meals as a way to connect to yourself, your company if you're lucky to have them, and to the present moment. Every moment we have alive is a gift so try to enjoy it.

Last tip!

Show up for yourself, if you want to workout more, start by making yourself go to the gym or put down that yoga mat in your living room. Then show up by doing a mini workout everyday until you're ready to add onto that, a day for rest always, and most importantly. . .don't play yourself! If you are someone who stays up late, do it at night, if you try to wake up early and workout, you're simply asking too much for yourself unless you got it like that. Know yourself, play to your advantages, and f*ck the noise. People were telling me not to cut weight while I was doing it, people always been talking in my ear, but whatever I do isn't about nobody else, and that's how it should be. What you do is for you, ain't nobody else's business, and don't you forget that! Just show up and the rest will follow.

Remember. . . it all starts in the mind!

So. . .

Start where you are!

“Whether you think you can or can’t, you’re right.”- Henry Ford
